How to add a movie to your watchlist on Letterboxd
If you're like me, you immediately forget every movie you've ever heard of when it comes time to actually watch something. Letterboxd, a film centric social media platform where you can record, rate, and review the films you've seen, has a solution. Its watchlist feature allows you to seamlessly organize all the movies you want to see in one place — and discuss them with your friends.
Launched in 2011 and available on iOS, Android, and desktop, Letterboxd has been steadily gaining popularity. Its number of users has nearly doubled since the beginning of the pandemic, proving its relevancy in the streaming era when there are so many movies on different platforms to keep track of. The watchlist is handy because it shows movie posters in a list and, by clicking on one, you can see its stats, cast, crew, what lists users have put it on and whether your friends have seen it, helping you decide what to queue up first.
Adding a movie to your watchlist, however, is a different process from logging a movie, which is how you note what films you've seen on what date. (That's accomplished by selecting the green "Log" rectangle in the upper right hand corner on desktop and tapping the green plus sign on the bottom of your screen in the app.)
Because we know how important your watchlist is in this, the golden age of streaming, we've broken down how to add movies to it via desktop and through the Letterboxd app.
How to add a movie to your watchlist on desktop:
1. Open Letterboxd
2. Search the title you want to add to your watchlist using the search bar in the upper right hand corner
