Come for Megan Rapinoe's superstar poses, stay for the adorable young fans.

On Wednesday morning, World Cup champion U.S. women's national soccer team got the ticker tape parade through New York City's "Canyon of Heroes" that they so richly deserved.

For fans of the team who followed their path through this year's World Cup, it was a well-earned celebration. People turned out in droves to cheer the team on as they rode atop floats, on their way to a ceremony on the steps of New York City's City Hall. Everyone -- fans and players -- were jubilant as the team absorbed the accolades and ticker tape raining down on them.

1. This team knows how to celebrate

The members of the USWNT were ready to party from the start.

2. Megan Rapinoe, superstar

Of course, at the forefront was leader and Golden Boot winner Megan Rapinoe, who took as much guff as anyone during the tournament.

3. Equal Pay takes center stage

And the topic of the moment -- the ongoing battle for the USWNT to receive pay equal to their male counterparts -- was front and center, too, as the crowd and team members chanted "equal pay" during the parade.

5. A ceremony fit for champions

After the parade, the team was treated to a victory ceremony on the steps of City Hall, where the party continued. The team got big-time introductions as well as being given keys to the city by NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio.

One notable moment came when U.S. Soccer's Carlos Cordeiro addressed the equal pay debate, saying, "We believe at U.S. Soccer that all female athletes deserve fair and equitable pay and together we can get this done."

Carli Lloyd, Alex Morgan, and coach Jill Ellis gave quick speeches but the grand finale came from Rapinoe, the breakout star of the 2019 World Cup, who brought the events to a rousing close and a note of inspiration.

"This is my charge to everyone. We have to be better. We have to love more, hate less. We've got to listen more and talk less. We've got to know that this is everybody's responsibility," Rapinoe said.

She added later, "Step outside yourself. Be more, be better, be bigger than you've ever been before."

It was a beautiful note to end a wonderful celebration for a group of champions that deserve it.
