According to The Verge, Verizon said it is instead offering to trade other phones, if Note7 owners are concerned about the safety of their devices.

The announcements come as new reports of exploding or over-heating Note7 devices continue to surface, despite Samsung endeavouring to replace earlier, faulty devices with new units.

Just last week, a Southwest Airlines flight had to be evacuated after a Samsung phone started smoking in the cabin. Other aviation authorities globally have also issued warnings about the Note7 onboard, fearing a fire hazard.

Samsung may have paused Note7 production

The Sunday announcements from these carriers may also confirm a new report from Korea's Yonhap News Agencythat says Samsung has temporarily halted production of the Note7.

The decision, if true, will mean Samsung could be taking the hot favourite smartphone off the market for now, just a month after launch.

Samsung has not yet responded to Mashable at time of writing.
